Thank You Los Angeles

The TREEHOUSE gallery would like to thank everyone that has visited and supported the gallery since its inception in 2001.  We have had a great time bringing art and life to our little piece of downtown, but unfortunately we have run our course.  C. Finleys new show, which opens November 10th, will be our last exhibition at 2345 E. Olympic Blvd.  Please keep checking back to www.THGallery.com in the future to find out where a seed of the original TREEHOUSE may grow.

Sincerely,

The TREEHOUSE gallery

Drew Blood, Jeffery James Mohr, C. Finley, Tracy Powell, Sven Barth.

November 10th @ the TREEHOUSE – Do Not Miss This

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 10TH 7PM
Finley’s new work is dealing with the aesthetics of entanglement. The artist draws lines, connecting her sense of self to the fortuitous implications of the American condition. These drawings and paintings suggest both the frustration and the inescapability of being in the fold of daily life, but they do so with reverence. “It looks like this to be here…”

BIG THANGS POPPIN’ THIS WEEK!

We have a week full of events and would like to invite you to come and check us out.

FIRST UP: We got Dola B’s solo dance performance, Tuesday October 9th at 9pm.

If you have never been to one of Dola’s performances, you don’t know what your missing.  Her first show was a real treat and I suggest you come by to check it out.

Then on Saturday the 13th of OCT we got a group show from the TREEHOUSE gallery resident artists.

This is going to be really fun.  In addition to the art work from people who have lived and worked at the TREEHOUSE since its birth in 2001, Sven Barth AKA Svendaleza Rice will perform a one man “Hip-Hopera” at about 10pm.  If you know Sven, you know this will be off the hook.

So there you have it, we are really turning things on for the fall schedule here at the gallery!

Red Lips, Warpaint, Half A Horse – October 20th 2007

Red Lips, War Paint, Half a Horse
Treehouse gallery is pleased to announce the opening of J. Damron’s new installation; Red Lips, War Paint, Half a Horse.  This mixed media installation includes two eleven foot drawings, a large kinetic sculpture, and other objects.  This is J. Damron’s first solo show in Los Angeles, and Treehouse invites all to welcome this interesting artist to our community.  Please join us Saturday October 20, 2007 @ 7pm.

Bio:
J.Damron lives and works in the high desert and the Sierra Nevada.  He finished his graduate studies in the New Genres Department at the San Francisco Art Institute in May of 1998.
Currently J.Damron holds an assistant professorship at Sierra Nevada College at Lake Tahoe, a private liberal arts college. His work has been shown in galleries nationally.

What J.Damron says about this project:
Recently I have been considering the difference between a monster and a giant, the potential that lies between, the difficulty in the difference between chocolate and honey.  My work has also been occupying a ground between personal ritual and play.
The objects, images and performance are not necessarily at the service of metaphor, and I can’t seem to abandon beauty in the presence of concept.
